Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 29: The fifth day of the NSS Special Camp at Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, brimmed with energy, creativity, and camaraderie as volunteers participated in a series of engaging activities aimed at promoting innovation and teamwork.
The day began with the NSS Assembly, where volunteers united their voices in the NSS Song, setting a tone of enthusiasm and solidarity. One of the highlights of the day was the "Best Out of Waste" competition, which challenged students to transform everyday waste materials into functional and artistic creations. Items like used plastic bottles and discarded household objects were repurposed into sustainable and creative products.
After a spirited display of talent and environmental awareness, Niharika and Aanshu were awarded the First Prize, followed by Vashu in Second Place and Amit in Third. The competition was judged by Dr. Ashraf Nawaz and Prof. Sanjeev Verma, who commended the participants for their originality and eco-friendly approach.
College Principal Dr. Rajinder Singh congratulated all the NSS volunteers for their active involvement and innovative efforts. The event was further supported by NSS Advisory Committee Convener Prof. Reena Rani and members Mohd Azam, Dr. Chetna Gupta, and Shaji Khan. Faculty members including Dr. Roomi Rani and Dr. Lata also attended, boosting morale with their presence.
Under the guidance of NSS Programme Officers Dr. Deepshikha Sharma and Dr. Deepak Pathania, the day's activities, including brainstorming sessions and group discussions, encouraged critical thinking, leadership, and collaborative learning-making the camp a truly enriching experience for all involved.
