Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 30: Amid heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) following the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, protests have erupted in Gilgit-Baltistan, a region in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The unrest is directed against the Pakistani Army.
Long-simmering resentment among the local population took a serious turn two days ago when police arrested a young man for allegedly using derogatory language against Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir.
According to local media reports, the youth, identified as Sher Ali, was detained for posting abusive and obscene remarks about the army chief in a WhatsApp group. Authorities have registered a case against him, and a court has since denied his bail.
Skardu City Police Station SHO Nisar Hussain stated that Sher Ali was booked under Sections 500, 504, and 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code, pertaining to defamation, intentional insult, and incitement to public disorder. He was presented before a civil court judge, who granted police physical remand to continue the investigation.
In response to his arrest, members of the Awami Action Committee in Kurmang held protests led by Shabir Mayar, demanding Sher Ali’s immediate release.
