Udhampur police foils bovine smuggling attempts, rescues 35 animals, arrests 3 accused,

UDHAMPUR, Apr 30: In a continued crackdown on illegal bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police successfully intercepted three vehicles at Jakhani Naka point, rescuing 35 bovines being transported in a cruel and inhumane manner. Three accused have been arrested and three vehicles seized in separate cases.
Case 1:
A vehicle bearing registration number JK18A-4996 was intercepted by a team from Police Station Udhampur. The driver, Mohd. Mushtaq, son of Rashid Khari, resident of Devsar, Kulgam, was arrested. 12 bovines were rescued.
FIR No. 148/2025 under sections 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered.
Case 2:
Another vehicle, JK13A-1001, was stopped during routine checking. The driver, Mohd. Mansa, son of Mohd. Yousaf from Kanskashiya, Reasi, was arrested. 12 bovines were rescued.
FIR No. 149/2025 under 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act was registered.
Case 3:
Vehicle JK19-4601 was also intercepted, leading to the arrest of driver Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman from Gool, Ramban. 11 bovines were rescued.
FIR No. 150/2025 under the same sections was filed at Police Station Udhampur.
Udhampur Police has reaffirmed its commitment to preventing animal cruelty and maintaining law and order. Strict action will continue against those involved in such illegal activities.
