Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 30: The Senior Citizens Joy Society (SCJS) celebrated Shree Parshuram Jayanti and Akshay Tritiya with great enthusiasm and devotion. The event, which took place at the SCJS center, was honored by the presence of K. S. Samyal, President of the Senior Citizens Rejuvenation Centre and Advisor to Vichar Kranti Manch International, as the Guest of Honour. The program was presided over by Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain, Chairman of SCJS and the Indian Yoga Association. The celebration began with the chanting of Om and the Gayatri Mantra, creating a peaceful and spiritual ambiance. Ashok Gupta, President of SCJS, welcomed the guests and recited a heartfelt poem reflecting the life and teachings of Bhagwan Parshuram Ji. A soulful bhajan by K. S. Samyal deepened the spiritual experience of the gathering. Dr. Shreyansh Jain, in his keynote address, emphasized the timeless relevance of Lord Parshuram's teachings, including the protection of Dharma, mastery of knowledge and skills, the importance of the guru-disciple tradition, and the practice of discipline and austerity. He urged the youth to embrace these values to lead fulfilling and righteous lives. The significance of Akshay Tritiya was also highlighted during the event, with Dr. Jain explaining that this auspicious day symbolizes eternal prosperity and spiritual merit. In Hindu tradition, it marks the birth of Lord Parshuram and the gifting of the Akshaya Patra to Draupadi by Lord Krishna. For Jains, it commemorates Lord Rishabhadeva's breaking of his fast. Traditions such as bathing in holy rivers, charity, purchasing gold, and starting new ventures are considered highly auspicious on this day. The event also celebrated the birthdays of four SCJS members-Prof. Virender Gupta, Sudha Chander Sharma, Dr. Vijay Sharma, and Meenakshi Gupta-adding joy and vibrancy to the occasion. The program was conducted by C. M. Sharma, General Secretary of VKMI, and concluded with a vote of thanks by H. C. Vaid, followed by the National Anthem. The celebration was a beautiful blend of spiritual devotion, reflection on timeless values, and community joy. |
