Liver symposium held in Jammu

JAMMU, May 5: A maiden liver symposium was organised in Jammu on Monday. The organizing secretary of the symposium Dr Showkat M Chaudhary in a statement said that the symposium was attended by the prominent doctors, including Padma Shri, Prof Yogesh Chawla, former Director of PGI Chandigarh, first hepatologist of the country.
Dr Ramit Mahajan, Professor Gastro at DMC Ludhiana, Dr Gursagar Singh Sahota, liver transplant surgeon at DMC Ludhiana.
Former principals and deans of Government Medical College Jammu, faculty members and other doctors also attended the symposium.
The participants deliberated upon various causes of fatty liver, injuries caused to liver due to use of drugs. The participants also discussed the remedies, including liver transplant, available for patients.
Dr Showkat M Chaudhary thanked principal and dean Professor Ashutosh Gupta, Professor B B Gupta, Dr Vijayant Chandali, Dr Rahul and Dr Ankit.
Dr Chaudhary said on the occasion rich tributes were paid to late Dr Sunil Sharma, first gastroenterologist of the region, and late Dr Inder Gupta.
