Cyber assault : Pak hackers target Indian defence sites
5/5/2025 11:16:27 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 5: Pakistani hackers have launched cyber attacks on Indian defence websites, raising concerns about compromised sensitive data amid escalating tensions following the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The attacks, claimed by a group identifying as “Pakistan Cyber Force” on the micro-blogging platform X, reportedly targeted the Military Engineer Services and the Manohar Parrikar Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis, potentially exposing login credentials and other critical information about defence personnel.
In a separate incident, hackers attempted to deface the website of Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking under India’s Ministry of Defence. The website has been taken offline for a comprehensive audit to evaluate any damage caused by the breach.
Cybersecurity experts are on high alert, monitoring for additional attacks, particularly those linked to Pakistan-sponsored threat actors. Authorities are bolstering security measures to prevent further intrusions.
Last week, Indian intelligence agencies warned Sainik Schools in Srinagar and Ranikhet of potential cyber threats from Pakistan after thwarting four such attempts in a single day. Parents were advised to avoid sharing sensitive information or engaging with suspicious online communications, as Pakistani operatives allegedly seek to exploit school websites and platforms to access military-related data.
The Indian government has yet to release an official statement on the full scope of the attacks or the measures being implemented to counter the ongoing cyber threat.
