Early Times Report KATRA, May 6: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Skill Hub Centre organized a Kit and Certificate Distribution Ceremony at the Central Workshop, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to enhance youth employability through skill development. The event was conducted under the Basic Soft Skills Training Program in collaboration with BOSCH. During the ceremony, training kits were distributed to newly enrolled candidates, while successful participants from the previous batch were awarded certificates for completing the soft skills course. The initiative is part of the university's broader commitment to preparing youth for the demands of the modern job market. The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, who lauded the program's impact on local youth and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in shaping a skilled and confident workforce. Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs, underlined the relevance of skill development in today's competitive environment and encouraged students to embrace these learning opportunities. Adding to the sentiments, Dr. Y. Anand, Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. Anurag, Head of the School of Languages, appreciated the efforts of the Skill Hub Centre. They encouraged the youth to actively participate in such programs, recognizing them as essential tools for personal and professional growth. Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering and Coordinator of the Skill Hub Centre, highlighted the program's focus on essential soft skills that enhance both employability and self-confidence among participants. He also shared the centre's vision of empowering youth through skill training. Furthering its contribution to national skill development goals, the SMVDU Skill Hub Centre has expanded its offerings under the PMKVY 4.0 scheme. Two new batches-Electrician Domestic Solutions and Assistant Carpenter-are currently underway, providing practical, hands-on training to participants. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Er. Deepak Byotra, who acknowledged the contributions of faculty, staff, and collaborators in making the program a resounding success.
