Early Times Report SAMBA, May 6: In a significant action against illegal transportation of forest produce, the Samba Police on Monday seized a truck loaded with wooden logs being transported in violation of the Jammu & Kashmir Forest Produce Transit Rules, 2020. The operation was conducted by a police party from Police Station Ghagwal, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), during a special naka (checkpoint) near Jatwal. The team intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB06BH-2502, which was coming from the Jammu side. Upon inspection, the police discovered that the vehicle was laden with wooden logs and was operating without valid transit permission as mandated under the forest regulations. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Yaqoob, son of Noor Mohammad, a resident of Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. Following the discovery, the truck was immediately seized and handed over to the Forest Department, Samba, for further legal action as per the provisions of the law. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to preventing illegal transportation of forest produce and preserving environmental resources. |
