Reasi Administration celebrates World Red Cross Day

REASI, May 8: The District Administration and District Red Cross Society Reasi celebrated World Red Cross Day today with great enthusiasm and active community participation under the theme "On the Side of Humanity." Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik, who also serves as the Chairperson of the District Red Cross Society, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and other dignitaries. The celebration paid tribute to the humanitarian spirit of the Red Cross movement. Students from various schools and colleges, along with volunteers, actively participated in the event. A symposium was held in which six students highlighted the importance, history, and humanitarian values of the Red Cross Society. The event also featured a dance performance by students.
Various officials including CEO, Tehsildar Pouni and prominent citizens like Vactch Pati Sharma were felicitated for their contributions to the Red Cross.
In recognition of academic excellence, the Deputy Commissioner awarded trophies to students who achieved outstanding results during the 2024-25 academic year in Classes 10 and 12.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of humanity, stating that every individual should help others in whatever capacity they can to fulfill their role as responsible citizens. She highlighted the significant role played by the Red Cross in providing humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and health services both globally and locally. Applauding the efforts of volunteers, she urged all citizens to come forward and contribute to the noble cause of serving humanity.
The event also honored the generosity of those who support humanitarian efforts. Certificates of appreciation were distributed to officers and citizens who made significant contributions to the Red Cross Society in Reasi. A Red Cross Day pledge was solemnly taken by all attendees, reaffirming the commitment of students, teachers, and officials to uphold the fundamental principles of the Red Cross. A vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Kuldeep Khajuria, District Executive Secretary of the Red Cross.
Among those present were ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Rakesh Kumar, ACR Nitin Verma, Dy. DEO Rakesh Kumar, CEO Deepak Kumar, DSWO, Tehsildars, ALC, DIO (Information), district officers, officials, teachers, and students.
