JAMMU, May 9: The School of Mechanical Engineering (SoME) successfully organized an engaging alumni interaction session featuring two accomplished alumni from the 2018 batch - Ms. Anketa Jandyal, Programmer Analyst at Cognizant Technology Solutions, and Ms. Sonal Bhatia, Executive in Supply Chain at Jindal Stainless Steel Limited.
The event aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry by offering students firsthand insights into career development, industry expectations, and essential professional skills. The session proved to be an eye-opener for students aspiring to make their mark in the competitive job market.
Ms. Anketa Jandyal shared her inspiring journey from campus to the corporate world, highlighting the importance of technical proficiency, soft skills, and the need for continuous learning. She emphasized adaptability, perseverance, and strong communication skills as key factors for success in the IT sector. Meanwhile, Ms. Sonal Bhatia provided an in-depth perspective on the manufacturing and logistics industry. Drawing from her experience at Jindal Stainless Steel Limited, she underscored the significance of supply chain management and the vital roles that problem-solving, leadership, and organizational acumen play in operational success.
Both alumni also addressed the broader professional landscape, discussing emerging trends, challenges beyond the classroom, and practical strategies for career readiness. They advised students on the value of internships, networking, and staying informed about industry dynamics. The session concluded with words of appreciation from Dr. Yatheshth Anand, Head of SoME, and Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, Associate Dean, International and Alumni Affairs. Prof. Yugal Khajuria, Dean, International and Alumni Affairs, extended heartfelt thanks to the alumni for their contributions. Vice Chancellor Prof. Pragati Kumar also conveyed his best wishes, emphasizing the importance of such interactive platforms in preparing students for the professional world.
