Jai Jawan, Jai Kissan: DDC Chairman urges Govt to ensure adequate irrigation water for farmers

Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 12: DDC Chairman Jammu, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi, commended the Indian armed forces for their decisive and effective retaliation to the enemies under 'Operation Sindoor' during the recent Indo-Pak war. He said the nation stands proud of its soldiers who gave a befitting reply to the perpetrators of the heinous Pahalgam massacre, on Pakistani soil.
"Our forces have done a marvellous job. This was a fitting tribute to the 26 innocent Hindu tourists who were selectively targeted and brutally killed by terrorists in Pahalgam," Bodhi said in a statement issued here today.
The DDC Chairman lauded the unity shown by the entire country, stating that even the political class, regardless of party affiliations, extended full support to the Central Government in its firm and timely response to the acts of terror. "This shows that when it comes to national security, India stands united - and that unity is our greatest strength," he added.
Bodhi also commended the Modi Government for its bold step in suspending the Indus Water Treaty, calling it a long-overdue move. He demanded that this momentum be used to ensure adequate irrigation water for the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir, especially in light of the approaching paddy cultivation season.
"Our farmers have suffered due to the shortage of irrigation water. The sowing of saplings has already been delayed by 15 days due to the prevailing border tensions. The government must now act swiftly to divert maximum possible irrigation water supply to Ranbir Canal and Partap Canal so that farmers can timely begin agricultural operations," he stressed.
Reiterating the timeless slogan of "Jai Jawan, Jai Kissan," Bodhi emphasized the need to respect and empower both soldiers and farmers. "While our jawans safeguard our borders with unmatched bravery, our farmers feed the nation. Their needs must never be ignored," he added.
