JAMMU, June 24: In a major push to strengthen India's fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will chair the 10th Apex-Level Meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on June 26.
The high-level meeting, being organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing the Centre's campaign to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a drug-free India.
Senior representatives from 44 Central Ministries and Departments, along with 108 officials from State Governments and drug law enforcement agencies, will participate in the deliberations in both physical and virtual modes.
A major highlight of the meeting will be the release of the "Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026-2029)" by the Union Home Minister. The document has been prepared after extensive consultations with Central ministries, enforcement agencies, state governments, and other stakeholders involved in combating the drug menace.
Officials said the Vision Document will serve as a comprehensive national roadmap for tackling the challenge of narcotics through a coordinated strategy encompassing supply reduction, demand reduction, and harm reduction. It lays down a network-centric enforcement framework while addressing emerging threats such as synthetic drugs, darknet-enabled trafficking, and organized narcotics networks.
The roadmap also focuses on protecting youth from drug addiction, strengthening awareness campaigns, expanding treatment and rehabilitation facilities, and enhancing coordination among various agencies involved in narcotics control.
The document clearly outlines responsibilities, timelines, and measurable targets for stakeholders, providing a structured framework for policy implementation and institutional strengthening over the next three years.

tation, public awareness, capacity building, and inter-agency coordination to ensure a comprehensive response to the growing narcotics challenge.
During the event, Amit Shah will also release the NCB Annual Report 2025, highlighting the agency's achievements and enforcement actions during the past year.
The Home Minister will further inaugurate newly constructed NCB Zonal Offices in Jammu and Guwahati, a move aimed at strengthening the agency's operational capabilities and enhancing its reach in strategically important regions.
Another key feature of the event will be the launch of the Drug Disposal Fortnight Campaign, a nationwide drive aimed at destroying seized narcotics in accordance with legal procedures. Officials said that during the campaign, various Central and State law enforcement agencies are expected to dispose of nearly 2,09,500 kilograms of narcotic substances with an estimated market value of around ?6,000 crore.
The NCORD meeting will provide a platform for a comprehensive review of anti-narcotics measures undertaken across the country and facilitate discussions on strengthening coordination among various stakeholders. Participants will assess progress made in curbing drug trafficking and drug abuse while identifying emerging challenges and future priorities.
The deliberations are expected to focus on evolving trafficking methods, interstate and international drug networks, synthetic narcotics, rehabilitation initiatives and measures required to strengthen enforcement and prevention mechanisms across the country.
Officials said the meeting will reaffirm the government's commitment to a whole-of-government approach in combating the drug menace and will help formulate a coordinated action plan for the coming years.
The high-level gathering is also expected to reinforce the Centre's "Zero Tolerance Policy" against drug trafficking, repeatedly emphasized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and provide renewed momentum to India's nationwide campaign against narcotics and substance abuse.
