Early Times Report KARGIL, May 13: In a significant step towards enhancing emergency response preparedness among armed forces, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu & Kashmir, Union Territory, successfully concluded an 8-day online First Aid Training program for soldiers of the Military Hospital, Kargil. The virtual training, which began earlier this month, culminated today with enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from the personnel involved. This initiative was launched in light of the pressing need to equip military personnel-especially those stationed in high-altitude and challenging terrains like Kargil-with critical life-saving skills. The comprehensive course covered both theoretical and practical aspects of first aid, enabling soldiers to efficiently handle medical emergencies both in combat zones and routine scenarios. The training curriculum included essential topics such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), treatment of fractures and burns, management of unconscious casualties, proper use of first aid kits, bandaging techniques, and care for bleeding patients. Additionally, special emphasis was placed on disaster management strategies during natural calamities such as earthquakes, fires, and floods. The sessions were conducted by a dedicated team of experts, including Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma and Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Medical Officers, with support from Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist, and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, IRCS-J&K.
