NEW DELHI, May 13: In a significant move to enhance customer convenience and drive its digital transformation agenda, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched a new facility for "Premium Payment through WhatsApp Bot." This latest initiative offers policyholders a seamless and user-friendly option to pay premiums directly through the popular messaging platform, WhatsApp.
The digital service was formally launched today by Siddhartha Mohanty, CEO & Managing Director of LIC, in the presence of Managing Directors M. Jagannath, Tablesh Pandey, Sat Pal Bhanoo, R. Doraiswamy, and other senior officials of the Corporation.
Through this new feature, registered LIC customer portal users can simply send a message to the official WhatsApp number 8976862090 to view policies due for premium payment. The entire process-from identifying due policies to making the payment via UPI, Net Banking, or Cards, and receiving the payment receipt-is handled within the WhatsApp bot, ensuring a smooth and efficient user experience.
Commenting on the launch, Siddhartha Mohanty said, "This WhatsApp-based premium payment facility is a step forward in making insurance services more accessible and convenient for our customers. It offers the ease of paying premiums from anywhere, anytime, leveraging the widespread use of WhatsApp in India."
He further added that this initiative will not only simplify the payment process for policyholders but also enhance LIC's service efficiency and operational productivity.
With more than 2.2 crore registered users on its customer portal and over 3 lakh logins daily, LIC continues to expand its digital offerings to cater to the evolving needs of its customers.
The introduction of premium payment through WhatsApp adds to LIC's growing suite of customer-centric digital services and reinforces its commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
