Jammu police nab drug peddler in Akhnoor, seize heroin-like substance

AKHNOOR, May 15: As part of its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking under Operation Sanjeevani, the Jammu Police have achieved a significant breakthrough in Akhnoor by arresting a drug peddler and recovering a heroin-like substance from his possession. On the evening of May 14, a team from Police Station Akhnoor, while conducting routine naka checking at Old Bridge Nakka, intercepted a suspicious individual. A thorough search led to the recovery of approximately 10 grams of a heroin-like substance.
The accused has been identified as Ghulam Abbas, son of Late Mohd. Bashir, resident of Katar Mal, Tehsil Manjakot, District Rajouri. A case has been registered under FIR No. 97/2025 U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Akhnoor. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to trace the source, supply chain, and potential network connections.
The Jammu Police reaffirm their strong commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and continue to urge citizens to support law enforcement efforts by sharing information related to drug trafficking.
