Early Times Report JAMMU, May 16: In a major initiative to enhance disaster response preparedness, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) 2nd Battalion, Jammu, successfully conducted a two-day Capacity Building Refresher Training Course for Civil Defence wardens and volunteers from May 15 to May 16, 2025. The training programme aimed at equipping Civil Defence personnel with essential life-saving skills and advanced disaster response techniques. Officers from the SDRF highlighted the crucial role of Civil Defence wardens and volunteers during emergencies, especially in light of recent conflict scenarios. Participants were commended for their past contributions in managing crises and were encouraged to stay prepared for future exigencies. Sh. Zahid Naseem Manhas, IPS, Commandant SDRF 2nd Battalion Jammu, addressed the trainees, emphasizing the importance of quality training and comfort during their stay at the battalion headquarters. He instructed the training staff to ensure that participants received comprehensive and practical knowledge in disaster response. The training sessions covered a wide range of critical topics, including: Types of sirens and air raid precautions Emergency rescue methods CPR and First Aid techniques CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) precautions Firefighting and rescue operations The course concluded on May 16, with all 72 participating wardens and volunteers expressing appreciation for the well-structured training module and its practical utility. Smt. Ansuya Jamwal, JKAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, representing the Controller Civil Defence Jammu, graced the valedictory function and arranged refreshments for the participants. The event was also attended by Chief Warden Civil Defence Jammu, Sh. Paramjit Kumar, who delivered the vote of thanks, and other dignitaries including Smt. Gurvinder Kour (Dy. SP), Sh. Manzoor Hussain (Dy. SP), Sh. Dinesh Gupta (Dy. SP of SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu), and Dy. Chief Warden Sh. R. Vijay Magotra. The SDRF reiterated its commitment to strengthening disaster resilience by continuing such collaborative training programmes in the future. |
