Jammu, May 17, 2025: In a significant move to dismantle the terror ecosystem in Kashmir Valley, Srinagar Police have detained 23 individuals under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for their involvement in terrorist activities and persistent disruption of public order. The crackdown targets anti-national and subversive elements across the district, with the arrested individuals now shifted to jails in Jammu province. The detained individuals, identified as associates of banned terrorist outfits or habitual offenders with multiple FIRs, include: Saqib Shafi Wani (Baghi Sunder Bala Chattabal), Waleed Aijaz Sheikh alias Waleed (Batmaloo), Hashim Farooq Mir (Ikhrajpora Rajbagh), Sayar Ahmad Sheikh alias Sahil (Batmaloo), Tawseef Ahmad Khan (Firdous Abad Batmaloo), Showkat Ahmad Dar (Nishat), Ali Mohammad Rather alias Ali Pakistani (Malfuk Hazratbal), Owais Farooq Lone (Tral, presently Maisuma), Musaib Ahmad Khan (Hamdania Colony Bemina), Feroz Ahmad Najar (Chandipora Harwan), Shabir Ahmad Ghulam (Bagiyas), Sajid Shahnawaz Mir alias Patrole (Batmaloo), Numan Qayoom Ganie (Chanpora), Owais Altaf Bhat (Padshahibagh), Junaid Zahoor Bangroo (Malik Angan Fatehkadal), Muzaffar Farooq Mir alias Muzaffar (Kanpora Budgam), Uneeb Naseer Mir (Kanpora Budgam), Irfan Ahmad Seeru alias Irfan (Nawakadal), Fahad Bashir Sidique alias Umar Kochwa (Khanyar), Zubair Ahmad Lone (Saidapora Eidgah), Faizan Yaseen Sheikh (Jamalatta), Ibrahim Rashid Ganie alias Gopi alias Umar (Batmaloo), and Abdul Hamid Ganie (Harwan). Based on comprehensive dossiers compiled by the police, the District Magistrate Srinagar issued formal detention orders. The 23 individuals have been relocated to District Jails in Poonch, Udhampur, and Kot Balwal. According to police, these individuals continued their anti-national and disruptive activities despite prior criminal cases and securing bail. Their persistent involvement in terrorism-related acts and public disorder necessitated action under the PSA. J&K Police reaffirmed their resolve to eradicate anti-national networks, warning that those engaging in unlawful activities will face strict legal consequences. “No offender will escape justice,” the police stated. |
