GGM Science College celebrates International Biodiversity Day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 22: GGM Science College marked International Biodiversity Day with a vibrant Biodiversity Awareness Programme, organized by the Department of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS). This year's celebration centered around the theme "Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development," highlighting the crucial link between biodiversity and sustainable living. Held under the esteemed patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, particularly NSS volunteers who took part in a series of nature-focused activities. In a creative display of environmental engagement, students captured photographs of flowers, trees, rivers, mountains, and other elements of natural beauty, pairing them with heartfelt captions that expressed their bond with nature. Many also participated in watering plants, reinforcing the message of care and responsibility toward the environment. The programme aimed to raise awareness among students about the urgent need for biodiversity conservation and the adoption of sustainable practices to ensure a healthier planet for future generations. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Rahul Kait and Dr. Neha Sharma, NSS Programme Officers, alongside Prof. Poonam Kundan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences. Their dedicated efforts ensured high levels of student engagement and made the event both educational and inspiring.
