Early Times Report JAMMU, May 23: Faculty members of GGM Science College, Jammu, actively participated in the "Pathways to Nature: Educators' Workshop" held at EcoVista, Environment Park, Raika. Organized by the Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing, Jammu & Kashmir, the workshop aimed to promote experiential learning and enhance ecological literacy among educators. The event provided a dynamic platform for educators to explore innovative ways of integrating environmental awareness into academic curricula. A key highlight of the workshop was a guided tour of EcoVista's nature interpretation center, featuring curated exhibits showcasing the rich biodiversity and ecological significance of the Jammu and Kashmir region. The interactive experience offered participants an immersive understanding of the area's natural heritage. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, lauded the initiative, emphasizing the crucial role of educators in nurturing environmental consciousness among students. "Biodiversity is the foundation of life. It is vital that we as educators not only appreciate its value but also help inculcate in our students a deep respect for nature and its preservation," he stated. Representing the college, Dr. Neha Sharma, Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, and Prof. Poonam Kundan, Assistant Professor, actively engaged in the workshop sessions, showcasing the institution's commitment to sustainable education. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Director of the Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing, J&K. Key contributions came from Ms. Kirti, who spoke on the role of environmental education in shaping policy and practice, and Ms. Hency Pandita, who, along with the department's team, played a pivotal role in the successful organization of the event.
