Early Times Report

KATHUA, May 24: The Labour Department Jammu & Kashmir today organized an interactive session at Chenab Textile Mills (CTM), Kathua, focused on labour welfare, safety, and awareness of social security schemes. Labour Commissioner J&K Charandeep Singh was the Chief Guest.
During the programme, the Labour Commissioner held a detailed interaction with Insured Persons (IPs) under the J&K Employees State Insurance Scheme (JKESIS). Many workers shared their personal experiences on how they and their families have benefitted through the JKESIS scheme — a vital social security initiative providing medical and financial support to the working class.
Insurance Medical Officer Kathua, Dr. Neeru Khajuria, delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the features, benefits, and eligibility criteria of the JKESIS scheme.
She emphasized the importance of timely registration and awareness among workers to fully avail the scheme’s advantages.
In addition, Roopali Jasrotia, Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central), also gave a detailed presentation on various labour laws and welfare measures in place for the benefit of industrial workers.
As part of the event, Charandeep Singh, who is also the Director JKESIS, distributed medical reimbursement claims to several insured persons, reaffirming the department’s commitment to delivering benefits at the grassroots level.
U. K. Patnayak, Executive President, CTM, presented an in-depth overview of CTM’s operations, the facilities and benefits extended to its workers, and the proactive safety measures in place at the plant.
He highlighted the industry’s collaborative approach with the government for better worker welfare.
The Labour Commissioner also witnessed a mock safety drill conducted by CTM, demonstrating their preparedness and compliance with occupational safety standards.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 workers of CTM, making it a successful platform for awareness, interaction, and strengthening the bond between labour and the administration.
Charandeep Singh appreciated the management of CTM for their support in implementing social security schemes and maintaining high safety standards. He urged the industry to continue promoting a safe, respectful, and rights-based work culture.
