Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 27: The first Prime Minister of the country, and Architect of Modern India Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru was remembered on his 61st death Anniversary in a function today at Congress headquarters Jammu which was chaired by PCC President Sh Tariq Hameed Karra and attended by working president Raman Bhalla besides several senior leaders, former ministers, former legislators, and party functionaries of PCC, DCC, Blocks and Frontal organisations.
Paying floral tributes to the Architect of Modern India, great freedom fighter and stalwart of international repute JKPCC President Karra said that the entire world is impressed by the philosophy of Nehru ji apart from Mahatma Gandhi and try to follow and respect him in many ways but unfortunately there are forces who are scared of his philosophy and ideology and use every occasion to erode his contribution and achievements and sacrifices for the nation.
Karra said that Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru and Congress opposed and resisted the division of the country but those opportunist force having radical ideology led to the division of the country, where as those very had forces joined hands with Muslim league of Jinnah for sharing power in various states, before the partition thus strengthened and endorsed the two nation theory of Jinnah's Muslim league.
Karra further said that those very forces are now trying to be ultra nationalist and issuing sermons to the congress party and its leaders who fought sacrificed and suffered in jails in years together for the freedom of the country, Adding that Pandit Nehru was one of the stalwart of the freedom movement and suffered in jail for over 10 years.
He told party men that the responsibility to carry forward the legacy and the true history of freedom movement and post independence contributions of Pandit Nehru and all stalwarts of the time, lies on the shoulders of congress party and its workers.
He said that Pandit Nehru laid the strong foundations of independent India as a result the country has progressed in all sphere of the life and is touching new heights in the world order, because of those foundations and our secular constitution but questioned that they are under threat today because of the policies of the present regime against which Congress has to rise and shoulder his responsibilities to safeguard those values for the future generations.
JKPCC Chief further said that the best tributes to our founding fathers would be to pass on and strengthen their philosophy thoughts and contributions to the younger generations for which they need to be "awaked aware and educated" about their glorious past.
Sighting the case of the downgrading of the J&K state into UT Karra said this is against the spirit of the constitution that a full fledged state has been divided and downgraded while retreating the demand of the early restoration of the statehood.
Karra on this occasion urged the government to install a statue of Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru at an appropriate place in Jammu so that the future generations draw inspiration from life and contributions of Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru.
