DC Samba stresses on inter-departmental synergy | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, May 27: In a continued effort to combat the rising threat of drug abuse, the Deputy Commissioner Samba Rajesh Sharma today chaired the monthly meeting of District Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) meeting here in the DC Complex Nandini Hills. The session underscored the district administration's firm commitment to a unified, multi-departmental strategy aimed at eradicating the drug menace. The high-level meeting brought together senior officials from key departments to assess ongoing anti-narcotics initiatives and formulate a more aggressive and collaborative action plan for prevention, surveillance, and community engagement. Deputy Commissioner Sharma highlighted the crucial role of inter-departmental synergy, stating that only a coordinated approach can effectively dismantle the supply chains and support systems fueling narcotic distribution and abuse. Among the key directives issued were enhanced medical oversight-mandating strict regulation of syringe and controlled substance sales by the medical and drug control departments-and intensified surveillance, with the police department presenting detailed reports on recent crackdowns and outlining plans for future operations. Additionally, the meeting called for expanded community outreach through awareness campaigns, sports events, and creative programs targeting vulnerable groups, particularly students and laborers. The DC reiterated the importance of proactive, preventive measures and urged all departments to amplify youth engagement efforts and provide positive alternatives to at-risk populations. He directed that all decisions taken during the meeting be implemented in letter and spirit, with seamless coordination across departments to achieve the collective goal of making Samba a drug-free district.
