Early Times Report JAMMU, May 28: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu has added another feather to its cap with the formal raising of the NCC Army Wing (Girls) under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor. With this development, SKUAST-Jammu proudly becomes the second university in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to host both NCC Air and Army Wings, strengthening its commitment to national service, leadership, and all-round personality development of students. The University already boasts a fully functional NCC Air Wing (Boys & Girls). Notably, Ms. Siya Kotwal, a cadet from SKUAST-Jammu, etched her name in history by becoming the first NCC cadet in the UT of J&K and Ladakh to airborne, bringing laurels to the university and the region. The selection process for the newly raised NCC Army Wing (Girls) was conducted by Colonel Muneesh Jasrotia, Commanding Officer, 2 J&K Girls Battalion NCC, and his team. The process was supervised by Prof. Rajinder Peshin, Director Education, and coordinated by Prof. Sanjay Guleria, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences and Incharge, Counselling and Placement Cell. Dr. Jasleen Kour, CTO, played a pivotal role in facilitating the cadet enrollment process. A total of 31 girl students from across different faculties of SKUAST-Jammu participated in the rigorous selection process, of which 17 were selected. The total strength of girl NCC cadets is planned to be raised to 50 over three years, enabling enhanced opportunities for leadership, discipline, and service. On this momentous occasion, Colonel Muneesh Jasrotia called on Vice Chancellor Prof. B. N. Tripathi and congratulated him for the successful establishment of the NCC Army Wing (Girls), appreciating the university's dedication to empowering youth through the NCC.
