JAMMU, May 28: In a significant stride towards public service, the Jammu Kashmir Police, under the aegis of operation "Re-CONNECT" (launched by Jammu Police), Jammu Police successfully recovered 45 smartphones with an estimated worth of over 8 lakh rupees. The exercise, spanning over the past 03 months, has been a remarkable success, restoring not just devices but also emotional connections for the citizens of Jammu.
The specialized Tech team of Jammu Police's Headquarter Zone, tirelessly traced, located, and recovered these lost 45 smartphones from various parts of J&K. These smartphones had been reported missing in different police stations and border police posts in the Headquarter Zone, Jammu.
The recovered devices were handed back to their rightful owners in a modest yet emotional ceremony held at the office premises of the SP headquarters Jammu. Present at the function were SP headquarters Jammu Sh.Irshad Hussain Rather-JKPS and officers/official of Headquarter office.
The event was marked by scenes of joy and relief as owners were reunited with their lost devices, which contained cherished memories, important personal information, and essential communication tools.
The grateful citizens expressed their heartfelt thanks to Jammu & Kashmir Police and praised the team for their relentless efforts.
The recovered phones were handed over only after thorough verification of identity documents and mobile bills, ensuring that the devices were returned to their lawful owners.
The owners were overwhelmed with joy and gratitude upon receiving their valuable devices, which had been missing for several months or even years.
Utilizing the occasion to educate the public, SP Hqrs Jammu advised on the importance of securing communication devices. He emphasized the need for strong passwords, updated software, remote tracking features, and two-factor authentication to safeguard personal information stored on smartphones.
