World Environment Day 2025 celebrations begin at GDC Nagrota | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 29: The World Environment Day 2025 celebrations commenced at Government Degree College (GDC) Nagrota, aligning with the global theme of "Ending Plastic Pollution." A street play (Nukkad Natak) was performed at Nagrota Bazaar in collaboration with RUDA( Regional Urban Development Agency) and JKPCB (J&K Pollution Control Board). The event was part of the nationwide campaign "One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution. "The program was organised by Eco club Sangrakshak and NSS Unit of GDC Nagrota. Under the Program Badlaav of CEE (Centre for Environment Education), Artists from Chhattisgarh performed a captivating Nukaad Natak engaging the local community with a powerful performance. The act focused on plastic segregation awareness, emphasizing the importance of separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste for effective recycling. The students of GDC Nagrota also took out a rally through the bazaar of Nagrota educating local shopkeepers and public. The street play creatively depicted the hazards of plasticwaste, emphasizing the importance of plastic segregation, recycling, and reducing single-useplastics. The engaging performance resonated with the audience, inspiring them to adopt eco-friendly habits, promote sustainable alternatives, cloth bags were also distributed.
