JAMMU, May 29: In a landmark initiative to strengthen community engagement and encourage higher enrollment, Government Degree College (GDC) Majalta, under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Shalini Sharma, organized an Introductory Meet with the Principals of adjoining Higher Secondary Schools - a first-of-its-kind endeavor in the region.
The meeting witnessed the enthusiastic participation of the Principals and their representatives from Higher Secondary School Mansar, Higher Secondary School Surinsar, Principal Higher Secondary schools Majalta and Higher Secondary School Manwal. The gathering served as a strategic step to bridge the gap between school and college education while opening up new avenues of academic collaboration.
In a welcoming and constructive atmosphere, Dr. Shalini Sharma apprised the attendees of the diverse range of undergraduate courses offered by GDC Majalta, highlighting their career potential, academic scope, and future opportunities. She emphasized the institution's commitment to providing holistic, inclusive, and skill-oriented education tailored to meet the aspirations of students in rural and semi-urban areas.
Dr. Chander Mohan, IQAC Convenor, offered a brief overview of the college's vision and distributed well-designed pamphlets detailing course structures, admission procedures, faculty profiles, and contact information. These informative materials are to be circulated among the students of the respective schools to raise awareness and encourage informed choices.
During the meet, GDC Majalta reiterated its willingness to provide ongoing academic support through initiatives such as:
Knowledge-sharing workshops

Career counseling sessions
Mentorship and handholding support for aspiring students
The participating schools welcomed the initiative and expressed their eagerness to explore future collaborations that would benefit students and strengthen the academic ecosystem of the region.
The session concluded on a cordial note with a group photograph, symbolizing the beginning of a promising partnership between GDC Majalta and local educational institutions.
