Early Times Report KATHUA, May 29: In a proactive step toward the celebration of International Yoga Day 2025, the NCC Senior Division and Senior Wing, 4 J&K NCC Battalion of Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua, organized the first yoga session to mark the beginning of International Yoga Month. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Seema Mir, the esteemed Principal of the college, whose encouragement and vision continue to inspire student participation in wellness and national service initiatives. The session took place at the Girls' Park within the college premises, providing a serene and natural environment for the cadets to engage in various yoga asanas. The event was held in collaboration with the Department of AYUSH, Kathua and it witnessed enthusiastic participation from Senior Division and Senior Wing NCC cadets of GDC Kathua, along with students and faculty members. Expert yoga instructors, Mr. Ankush Modeel and Ms. Priyanka Sharma, from department of AYUSH led the session, demonstrating various asanas and breathing techniques. They emphasized upon the vital role that yoga plays in enhancing flexibility, improving posture, reducing stress, and fostering inner peace. Practicing yoga asanas regularly strengthens the immune system and contributes to overall well-being, making it an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Also present at the event were medical officers Dr. Bodh Paul, Dr. Nittan Sharma, and Dr. Rekha Sharma from the Department of AYUSH, who encouraged participants to adopt yoga as both a preventive and therapeutic approach to health, emphasizing its benefits within modern medical practices. They also educated the cadets about tuberculosis prevention and treatment as part of the TB Mukt Bharat campaign, highlighting the importance of awareness and early intervention in eradicating the disease.
