FICCI FLO signs MOU with World University of Design

JAMMU, May 29: In a purposeful move towards women's empowerment, FICCI FLO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the World University of Design (WUD), Sonipat. The MOU was formally signed by Ms. Poonam Sharma, 42nd President FICCI FLO, and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Founding Vice Chancellor of WUD, in the presence of distinguished guests and stakeholders from both institutions.
The initiative was led by Ms. Varuna Anand, National Initiative Head - Promotions and Collaborations, FICCI FLO. The event was graced by Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat, Former Chairperson, Khadi Board J&K, as the Guest of Honor, who commended the focused effort to provide practical learning opportunities for grassroots women entrepreneurs.
Aligned with FLO's core motto, "The Power to Empower," this partnership underscores FLO's commitment to consistently seeking meaningful ways to uplift and strengthen women-led businesses through strategic collaborations. The MOU facilitates the launch of certified online programs aimed at equipping women from underprivileged backgrounds with essential skills in branding, garment upcycling, and color application for design and business use.

Mastering Branding
Mending Technology for Garment Upcycling & Reuse
Understanding Colors for Design & Business Applications
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Poonam Sharma stated, "At FLO, our focus is to create impactful pathways that enable women to grow, sustain, and lead. This collaboration is a step towards that vision."
Dr. Sanjay Gupta shared, "WUD is proud to contribute to this initiative. Our aim is to extend the power of design education to communities that can transform through knowledge."
Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat noted, "This initiative addresses the real need for practical skills and is a wonderful opportunity for women at the grassroots to become economically independent."
Ms. Varuna Anand added, "This collaboration represents FLO's unwavering focus on creating bridges between institutions and aspiring women entrepreneurs, where knowledge becomes the true tool of empowerment."
The event saw participation from WUD faculty Dr. Vidushi Vashisht, Prof. Ambika Margotra, and Prof. John Varghese, and FLO members including GB Member Sunitee Abbi, Anjali Aggarwal, Ankurita Pathak, and Anshu Aggarwal.
This MOU symbolizes FLO's continued pursuit of inclusive growth, education, and empowerment for women across India.
