Historic Milestone for Jammu & Kashmir: Rahul Sahai Hails PM Modi for Inaugurating Long-Pending Train to Kashmir
6/5/2025 9:04:02 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 5: Rahul Sahai, Chairman of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Jammu, today hailed the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for inaugurating the much-awaited train service to Kashmir — a moment that marks a historic turning point in the development journey of Jammu and Kashmir.
Calling it a “landmark day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir,” Sahai applauded the Prime Minister for successfully completing one of the most challenging and strategically significant infrastructure projects in the country. “The completion of this long-pending railway line is nothing short of a civil engineering marvel. The dedication of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to connect the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India through rail is a testament to his unwavering commitment to national integration, inclusive development, and regional connectivity,” said Sahai. He further added, “The Jammu-Kashmir train will be a game-changer for the regional economy. It will open up new avenues for trade, tourism, logistics, and industrial linkages. Jammu will emerge as a critical economic hub — a gateway for goods, people, and ideas flowing into and out of the Kashmir Valley. This connectivity will also boost local businesses, MSMEs, transporters, and the service sector, and create employment opportunities for the youth.” Rahul Sahai also expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha Ji, stating, “We are grateful to LG Manoj Sinha Ji for acting on our long-standing demand to start the train service from Jammu instead of Katra. This shows his responsiveness to the voices of industry and civil society in Jammu. It will not only benefit the business ecosystem but will also strengthen Jammu’s role as the logistical and economic nerve centre of the Union Territory.”
Sahai concluded by stating that the ICC Jammu will work closely with stakeholders to maximize the economic potential unlocked by this project and ensure that the benefits reach every corner of the region.
