Early Times Report

Jammu, June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Gandhi Nagar branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad organized a plantation drive at Gharana.
During the drive, a large number of medicinal plants, such as, Pomegranate (Anar), Bhel, Arjun, Amla, Sukhchain etc. were planted by the members of branch. Students and teachers of the local school were also involved in the drive to inculcate in them love of trees and care for the environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Dev Raj Sharma, patron, said that planting trees ensures that the future generations will continue to have clean, healthy air to breath.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Regional Convenor Seva, North Region One, said that trees have enjoyed a very special place in Indian civilization for thousands of years.
