Early Times Report POONCH, June 7: In its ongoing drive against illegal bovine transportation, District Police Poonch successfully foiled two smuggling attempts and rescued eight bovine animals during routine patrol duties in the Chandimarh area. In the first incident, alert personnel from Police Post Behramgala intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK11G-4728, driven by Ajaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Din, resident of Khawas, Rajouri. The vehicle was found transporting bovine animals without valid permission from the competent authority, in clear violation of the law. In a separate instance, another vehicle bearing registration number JK11H-1805, driven by Tuffail Ahmed, son of Ghulam Qadir, resident of Treru, Rajouri, was also intercepted under similar circumstances, carrying bovines illegally. Accordingly, two separate FIRs have been registered at Police Station Surankote: FIR No. 94/2025 under section 223 BNS FIR No. 95/2025 under section 223 BNS Both accused have been arrested, and the vehicles used in the commission of the offence have been seized on the spot. District Police Poonch remains committed to upholding the law and maintaining public order. The department urges all citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities related to illegal transportation of animals or smuggling to the nearest police authority. |
