Rail bridge on Chenab River engineering marvel: Balbir | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 7: The arch railway bridge built over the Chenab River in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir is a marvel of engineering. It has become a symbol of India's advanced technology, construction capability, and self-reliance. This bridge is one of the tallest railway bridges in the world, surpassing the height of the iconic Eiffel Tower and Qutub Minar. Recently, this historic bridge was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan called it a "symbol of the nation's technological advancement and determination." He stated that not only was the bridge constructed in an extremely challenging terrain, but it also extensively utilized world-class engineering techniques. He highlighted that the arch structure of the Chenab Bridge is built so robustly that it can withstand wind speeds of up to 260 kilometers per hour. The total length of the bridge is approximately 1.3 kilometers, and it is a crucial part of the Katra-Banihal railway project, which will play a vital role in connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. Balbir said that the construction of this bridge will not only boost transportation and tourism but will also significantly ease and expedite military movement in the border areas, thereby strengthening national security. He lauded the infrastructure development taking place in the country under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, saying that this bridge will serve as a source of inspiration for future generations of engineers. He also expressed gratitude to all the engineers, technicians, labourers, and officials who turned this bridge into a reality through their relentless hard work and dedication. |
