Early Times Report JAMMU, June 7: Following the peaceful and spiritually enriching conclusion of the Mata Kheer Bhawani Yatra 2025, the Vishaw Kashmiri Samaj, under the aegis of the Mata Kheer Bhawani Yatra Welfare Society, offered a solemn Shradhanjali (homage) to all the brave souls and innocent civilians who have fallen victim to terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir. The Samaj expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the families of the recent victims of terror attacks in Pahalgam and Poonch, including members of the security forces who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty while defending the nation. In a deeply emotional gesture, the community also paid homage to the Kashmiri Pandits who were targeted and killed during the genocide and mass exodus of the 1990s. Their pain and sacrifice remain etched in the collective memory of the community, and the Samaj reiterated its long-standing demand for justice, acknowledgment, and remembrance of these victims at the national level. As part of the tribute, candles were lit and prayers were offered at Tulmulla, the sacred site of Mata Kheer Bhawani, and a two-minute silence was observed to honor the martyrs. Community members, pilgrims, and volunteers participated in the Shradhanjali Sabha, offering floral tributes and emotional support to the bereaved families across the region. M.K. Yogi, General Secretary of Vishaw Kashmiri Samaj, stated: "While the success of the Yatra is a testament to communal harmony and administrative excellence, we cannot turn a blind eye to the painful realities that continue to plague our homeland. The lives lost-be they soldiers, civilians, or displaced community members-must be remembered with dignity and their sacrifices honored through action, not just words." He further emphasized the need for stronger national resolve against terrorism, and renewed calls for the rehabilitation, security, and rightful recognition of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community. Kiran Wattal, Convener of the Mata Kheer Bhawani Yatra Welfare Society, also expressed grief and reaffirmed the community's unwavering commitment to peace, justice, and remembrance. Others who participated in the homage event included Sh. Prem Sharma (Vice Chairman), Sh. Ravi Ji Bakshi (Chief Coordinator), Sh. Kamal Krishan Ganjoo (Public Relations Incharge), and several youth volunteers and community members. The Vishaw Kashmiri Samaj calls upon the government and all sections of society to stand united against terrorism, and ensure that the voices of the victims-past and present-are never forgotten |
