Yogi govt to preserve Mahakumbh memories by establishing 'Triveni Van' across UP

LUCKNOW, June 7: In a unique initiative to commemorate the spiritual and cultural legacy of the Mahakumbh 2025, the Yogi government will establish 'Triveni Van' in all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. This effort is part of the larger 'Ped Lagao Ped Bachao Jan Abhiyan 2025', under which the state aims to plant a staggering 35 crore saplings.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath officially launched the Triveni Van initiative on June 5, World Environment Day, in Ayodhya. Inspired by spiritual symbolism, the forest will consist of three sacred trees-Neem, Banyan, and Peepal-representing the Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh) and the holy confluence of rivers (Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati), traditionally referred to as 'Triveni'.
The Triveni Vans will be developed along riverbanks to both honor Mahakumbh and enrich the environment. The plantation drive is scheduled to intensify in July, as part of a state-wide mega campaign. The Forest Department, under the Chief Minister's directives, will also focus on the maintenance and preservation of these sites.
The concept of Triveni, rooted in Indian tradition, symbolizes purity, harmony, and sustainable growth. These trees - Neem for medicinal value, Banyan for strength and longevity, and Peepal for oxygen generation - collectively represent nature's gifts passed down by ancestors. Through this effort, the government seeks not only to enhance the state's green cover but also to embed cultural and spiritual values into environmental action.
For the Mega Plantation Drive 2025, over 52.33 crore saplings have already been prepared in nurseries. Out of these, 5.75 crore medicinal plants have been grown in the Forest Department's nurseries alone. These include around 52 lakh neem, 29 lakh banyan, and 29 lakh peepal saplings. Along with planting these environment-friendly trees, the department will also focus on their care and protection.
