Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, June 7: In a significant effort to educate the public on two vital issues like environmental conservation and legal awareness, a joint program was held yesterday at Government Higher Secondary School Binoon, Bunjwah, Kishtwar.
The events were aimed to sensitize the public about the importance of environmental protection as well as to inform them about the newly enacted criminal laws in India.
The first event was organised by Block Development Office Bunjwah to mark World Environment Day, in which Tehsildar Bunjwah, Tajinder Sharma, presided over the function as the Chief Guest, while Aijaz Ahmed Butt, BDO Bunjwah & In-charge Principal of HSS Binoon, were the Guest of Honour.
The event witnessed active participation from students, local residents and Panchayat representatives from adjoining areas.
Students delivered speeches highlighting the urgent need for environmental conservation, while senior officers emphasized sustainable practices to preserve the natural ecosystem. The event underscored the importance of collective responsibility in protecting the environment.
Following the Environment Day celebration, an awareness campaign on the new criminal laws-Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)was also held at the same venue.
Yassir Rashid, who served as the Resource Person, delivered an informative lecture detailing the changes and new provisions under these laws. He explained how the reforms aim to ensure speedy justice, stringent penalties and improved accessibility to the justice system.
Students also presented their understanding of the new laws and their implications for citizens.
Tehsildar Bunjwah and BDO Bunjwah briefed attendees on how the new legal framework prioritizes justice over punishment and encouraged the community to stay informed about their legal rights and duties.
Certificates of Appreciation were awarded by the dignitaries to all participants who contributed to raising awareness on these critical issues at the conclusion of the program.
