Early Times Report MANDI GOBINDGARH, June 11: In a commendable celebration of global academic collaboration, Desh Bhagat University (DBU), a NAAC A+ accredited multidisciplinary institution, honored Ms. Uthpala Sachinthani Kalupathirana, an undergraduate from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, for her outstanding teaching internship performance under the university's Global Classroom Project. Uthpala joined DBU through a cross-border initiative facilitated by AIESEC Sri Lanka (Colombo North) in partnership with AIESEC Ludhiana, India. Over the course of her internship from May 1 to June 11, 2025, she conducted dynamic sessions in Communicative English and English Grammar for students across diverse disciplines including Nursing, Ayurveda, Engineering, and Dental Sciences. Students particularly valued her ability to make complex concepts accessible while fostering a supportive environment for developing communication confidence. In addition to her classroom sessions, Ms. Uthpala also provided counselling support, offering academic and personal guidance with remarkable empathy and professionalism. In a special felicitation ceremony, Prof. (Dr.) Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, presented Uthpala with an Award of Appreciation. Uthpala brought a refreshing, student-centric approach that was both warm and impactful. Her presence contributed significantly to improving the spoken English skills of our students. We deeply value such global engagements and the meaningful contribution of interns like her, said Dr. Sadawarti.
