The multi-state Delhi Amritsar Katra expressway. It was conceived on 2019. It is a four lane access - control corridor connecting Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir passing through Haryana and Punjab. To be constructed as a part of Bharat Mata pariyojna. Delhi Amritsar Katra expressway is an approved 670 km long for lane expressway which will connect Bahadurgarh border near Delhi with Katra in Jammu Vaya Haryana and Punjab. Activated use the current Delhi Katra distance from 727 km 558 km. And that time travel will be reduced from 14 hours to 6 hours. It is expected to cost about 40,000 roads likely completion date for expressway is between 31st December 2025 and first April 2026. The expressway offer reduce travel time enhance safety and economic benefit but it also carries potential drawbacks like environmental impact and land acquisition issues. The project is being developed in two phases. Phase 1: This phase covers the Delhi-Nakodar-Gurdaspur section, a 397-kilometer stretch. It also includes a 99-kilometer greenfield spur from Nakodar to Amritsar. Phase 2: Focuses on the Gurdaspur-Pathankot-Jammu-Katra section. This phase will upgrade existing highways for better connectivity. In Jammu and Kashmir, 120 out of 135 kilometers are under development. In Haryana, work is in progress on 137 kilometers. However, in Punjab, land acquisition delays have affected the 296-kilometer stretch, leading to slow progress. |
