Early Times Report JAMMU, June 12: Women's College Gandhinagar Jammu has launched its annual Summer Internship Program, providing hands-on training in Journalism and Media Studies to students of Urdu & Punjabi pursuing skill-based subjects in Semester III. The initiative bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, equipping students with industry-relevant skills for future careers. This year, students from the Urdu and Punjabi departments are undertaking their internship with Gulistan News Network, a leading media organization in Jammu and Kashmir. Over 15 days, participants will receive expert training in news production, writing, reporting, camera handling, video editing, and content creation. The program culminates in certification, empowering graduates to pursue opportunities in the media sector. "This internship reflects our commitment to experiential learning. By collaborating with JK & Gulistan News Network, we empower our students to translate classroom theory into real-world media expertise. The program has been designed in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020's emphasis on skill development, providing our students with a competitive edge in the evolving media landscape," said Principal GCW Gandhi Nagar, Prof. Geetanjali Andotra Rana. The program offered a 2-credit internship evaluated on a 50-mark system, emphasizing both academic and practical learning. It was guided by Mr. Ishfaq Gowhar and mentored by Mr. Asif Rashid, Sub-Editor at Gulistan News Network, and Mr. Kunal Goswami, a News Anchor, with Dr. Radhika Sharma and Dr. Liaqat Jafri served as conveners. A total of 40 students participated, representing remote and diverse regions such as Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua, Doda, Reasi, Udhampur, Kargil, Ladakh, and Srinagar, making the initiative highly inclusive. The program was conducted under the leadership of Principal GCW Gandhi Nagar, Prof. Geetanjali Andotra Rana, who ensured that the internship maintained both academic integrity and industry relevance. |
