LG Sinha leads from front | | | Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha became the first Chairman of Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board to reach the Holy Cave shrine of ‘Baba Barfani’ in recent times through Baltal track. His visit was not just a matter of spiritual fulfilment, but a clear endorsement of the administration’s steadfast commitment to the safety, comfort, and accessibility of the Amarnath Yatra. Under LG Sinha’s dynamic leadership, unprecedented focus has been laid on the upgradation of the yatra infrastructure. Recognizing the terrain’s inherent vulnerabilities and the influx of devotees that continues to grow every year, the administration has taken concrete steps to ensure that the pilgrimage remains both spiritually fulfilling and physically safe. A key highlight of this transformation has been the development of safer and better-structured tracks on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes. These routes, which often tested the endurance and courage of pilgrims, have been given a much-needed infrastructural facelift. The alternate track from Chandanwari to Pissutop has been specially prepared with safety hand railings and newly surfaced pathways. This intervention is expected to significantly ease the movement of on-foot yatris and help decongest critical points along the Chandanwari axis. Addressing one of the most persistent challenges—shooting stones and unstable formations—the administration has constructed gabion walls, breast walls, and ILC fencing along vulnerable zones such as Railpathri-Brarimarg, Kalimata-Lower Cave, and the Panjtarni-Sangam-Holy Cave stretches. Additionally, wire mesh installations now act as shields in these high-risk areas, reinforcing pilgrim safety and reducing the likelihood of accidents. Furthermore, to counter the danger of slips and falls on high-altitude, moisture-laden tracks, granular sub-base materials and ILCB tiles have been extensively laid on key slippery stretches. Notably, the Domail–Railpathri–Brari stretch on the Baltal route and the Chandanwari–Pissutop–Zozibal–MG Top section on the Pahalgam route have received focused attention in this regard. These improvements are not only about physical infrastructure but also a reassurance to devotees that their safety is paramount. This forward-looking approach reflects a deeper administrative philosophy—one that balances devotion with development. LG Sinha’s personal visit to the cave shrine serves as a testament to this vision and sets a new standard for what yatris can expect from the administration in terms of preparedness and care. The sacred journey to Amarnath is one of faith, endurance, and spiritual rejuvenation. By investing in modern infrastructure and safety measures, the administration under LG Manoj Sinha is redefining pilgrimage management in J&K. This proactive transformation not only secures the yatra but also strengthens the age-old bond between the people, the state, and the divine. |
