Doda administration gears up for Int’l Day of Yoga

DODA, June 13: A comprehensive preparatory meeting for the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 was today held here in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex.
The meeting was chaired by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Harvinder Singh aimed at finalizing arrangements for the grand event scheduled on June 21.
The meeting decided to host the main celebration at famous Gatha Park, Bhaderwah, with parallel events to be organized at all Government Degree Colleges, prominent tourist destinations, vibrant villages and near Amrit Sarovars across the district.
In addition to yoga sessions, the event will feature cultural events, painting competitions and fun activities for children to make sure wider community engagement.
Youth Services & Sports and Education departments were instructed to mobilize maximum student participation.
The DDC highlighted the need to encourage mass participation by involving school children, youth, PRIs, SHGs and civil society members.
In line with the national theme of "Harit Yoga," the DDC directed departments to incorporate plantation drives and eco-friendly practices into the celebration schedule.
The District Ayush Officer presented a detailed overview of activities and informed that 13 yoga instructors—five from the Department of Youth Services & Sports and eight from the Ayush Department—have been nominated for the events. Mega yoga sessions are planned at picturesque locations like Lal Draman and Nagni, along with marathons and wellness activities.
The Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Doda was asked to direct BDOs to make adequate arrangements in their respective blocks.
The Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Bhaderwah was instructed to establish the stage and infrastructure at the main venue on time.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bhaderwah was tasked with coordinating with the Army for participation and ensuring free public entry at the venue. The ARTO was directed to manage traffic flow, while the BDO Bhaderwah was asked to maintain the road stretch leading to the site.
Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner directed the BDO Bhaderwah and the Executive Officer Municipal Committee Bhaderwah to ensure proper sanitation and hygiene at the main venue before and during the celebration. The Executive Officer was also instructed to arrange a water tanker for supply of clean drinking water for the participants attending the Yoga Day event.
Detailed discussions were also held on sanitation, security, sound system, media coverage and medical arrangements.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Doda was directed to deploy medical teams and ambulances.
The meeting was attended by senior officers including ADC Bhaderwah (also CEO BDA), ACR Doda, Executive Engineers of PWD, PHE and JPDCL along with the CMO, CEO, DSWO, ARTO, DIO, EO MCs, DYS&SO, NIC Officer and BDO Bhaderwah. The DDC called for wholehearted cooperation from all stakeholders to celebrate Yoga Day in the true spirit of “Yoga for Wellness, Peace and Environmental Sustainability.”
