Udhampur, June 15: In a solemn and deeply emotional ceremony, the Senior Citizens Club (Regd), Udhampur paid tribute to the victims of the recent Ahmedabad Air Crash, which claimed several innocent lives and left the nation mourning. The event was held at the sacred bank of Devika River, regarded in Hindu tradition as the elder sister of the holy Ganga, and beneath the towering statue of Lord Shiva, symbol of both destruction and divine transformation. In this spiritually charged setting, the members of the Club including, Gen-Secretary Sh. Raj Guru, Jugal Kishore Gupta, Jugal Verma, Dalbir Singh, BK Mahajan, Omesh Gupta, Dr. Vikas Gupta, Sanmati Gupta, Mohan Lal Baru, Rakesh je, Vijay Kumar, Vijak Kumar Verma lit Deepaks (lamps) in memory of the departed souls. Each flame represented a silent prayer, a tear unspoken, and a beacon of love for those tragically taken too soon. The ceremony included the chanting of the Shanti Path, invoking eternal peace, and two minutes of silence, observed with deep reverence and unity. A collective prayer was offered for the departed to find eternal rest in the divine realm, and for the bereaved families to be granted courage and solace in the face of this irreplaceable loss. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Mahadeep Singh Jamwal, President of the Club, expressed profound grief and solidarity: “No words can mend the wounds inflicted by such a tragedy. Each life lost was a universe of dreams and emotions, now extinguished in an instant. As elders of society, we light these lamps not just to mourn, but to spread hope, unity, and compassion. We pray the departed find eternal peace in the embrace of the Divine, and the grieving families draw strength from the love and support around them. May the Almighty cradle them in His boundless mercy?” The Senior Citizens Club of Udhampur reiterated its unwavering commitment to standing with the nation in times of grief.
