Early Times Report RAMNAGAR, June 16: The NCORD Cell of Government Degree College Ramnagar organized a webinar on the theme "Empowering a Nation: The Quest for a Drug-Free India" under the patronage of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal. The webinar aimed to raise awareness among the youth about the perils of drug abuse and the collective responsibility to build a drug-free society. The esteemed resource person, Mohan Singh, Advocate, J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, delivered a powerful and thought-provoking lecture highlighting the legal, psychological, and social consequences of drug addiction. He emphasized that drug abuse not only destroys individuals but also disrupts families and weakens the very fabric of the nation. He urged the students to stay vigilant and play a proactive role in spreading awareness and supporting rehabilitation initiatives. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sham Singh, Convenor, NCORD Cell, who introduced the resource person and outlined the objectives of the event, stressing the importance of preventive education and youth engagement in the nationwide fight against substance abuse. In his address, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal appreciated the efforts of the NCORD Cell and lauded the resource person for his impactful presentation. He remarked that educational institutions have a vital role to play in sensitizing students and creating a culture of awareness, vigilance, and responsibility. The webinar witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students, who interacted actively during the session and expressed their commitment towards promoting a drug-free environment. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Sanjay Malhotra, member, NCORD Cell, who acknowledged the contribution of all stakeholders in making the event a success.
