Early Times Report CHANDIGARH, June 16: Carrying forward the baton of excellence, the NCC cadets (Army and Navy Wings) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, have once again made their mark at Annual Training Camps. The NCC Army Wing cadets gave a stupendous performance at the Annual Training Camp 2025, held at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sector 25, Chandigarh. Organised by the 1 Chandigarh Girls Battalion NCC, the camp witnessed enthusiastic participation of 40 cadets from the college who demonstrated exceptional discipline, talent, and leadership across diverse areas. The cadets shone brightly across all fronts- drill, weapon training, sports, cultural activities, and leadership roles- leaving an indelible mark on the camp. SUO Manya, UO Agrima, and SGT Sandhya Punia were awarded medals of appreciation for their remarkable contributions. CPL Vallari clinched a gold medal in the Extempore competition, while CPL Deveshi was honoured with the role of Second Commander during the prestigious Brigadier's Guard of Honour. The cadets brought laurels to the college by winning gold medals in group singing, group dance, tent pitching, and several other cultural events. Leadership responsibilities such as Company Senior, Second IC, weapon training coordinators, and event anchors were executed with commendable confidence. Cadet Bhavyanshi received special recognition for her excellence in weapon handling, and SGT Sandhya Punia earned appreciation for her stellar work in camp documentation and photography. Adding to the list of achievements, the college's NCC Navy Wing emerged as the best-performing contingent at CATC 173 NCC Navy. The team was awarded the Best College Trophy, securing top positions in multiple events: 1st place in drill, relay races, and the 100m race, Gold medal in service subjects, and 2nd place in tug of war, tent pitching, and volleyball. Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the cadets' efforts, stating that they continue to uphold the spirit of discipline, dedication, and excellence. She added that their remarkable performance is a reflection of MCM's commitment to holistic development and nation-building. |
