BLSKS conducts workshop of Nukkad Natak

JAMMU, June 17: To aware the masses on "SWATCHH BHARAT " & promote the traditional rich culture of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) conducted rehearsal cum workshop through Nukkad Natak and presented its 498th Wednesday Series musical play "SWACHHATA HI SEWA" in close collaboration with Jammu Municipal Corporation & Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir & Ministry of Culture, Govt. Of India. The Program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest V.K. Magotra, Former Regional Director of Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, & Among the Guest of Honors present were J.K.Raina, Freelancer Producer Director films, Mukesh Singh Media Person J&K, Dr. Anju Kumari Dogra, Health Department J&K Government. Speaking on the occasion chief guest highlighted the central aim of organizing Nukkad Nataks on Swachhata is to educate, engage and empower the public, encouraging them to take proactive steps towards maintaining clean and sustainable urban environments and also lauding the role of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan-(NGO) and underlined the importance of staging such plays in all parts of the state to generate awareness among the masses about various social evils through theatre/drama/skits which are still very powerful medium of communication. The programe was commenced with the songs were "Na Thappad Se, Na Gaali Se Ab Samjhaainge Taali Se", "Swatchh Bharat Ka Irada Kar Liya Humne", "Savdhan Savdhan Ae Manav Jati Savdhan", "Laga Gran Sade setu da mela", "Swatchta Hi Sewa Hai". The Music was the play composed by Raju Bajgal, Music Instructor BLSKS. The program was also recorded & uploaded online on Social Media for benefit of the peoples. BLSKS will present Nukkad Natak on Swachhata at Parade Chownk, Jammu city on 21-06-2025.
The short play Skit Nukkad Natak "SWACHHATA HI SEWA", written, produced and directed by Dr. M.L. Dogra (Chairman, BLSKS) highlighted the main aims of this workshop to aware the people i.e Sensitizing the public about the critical link between personal hygiene, community cleanliness and environmental well-being. Promoting behavioural change by showcasing the negative impacts of littering, indiscriminate dumping and plastic usage. Encouraging citizen participation in regular cleanliness drives, waste segregation, and sustainable practices. Inspiring youth and community groups to become active agents of change and champions of the Swachh Bharat Mission. Besides, one of the key messages through the Nukkad Natak performances will be a satirical representation of an irresponsible civic behaviour of littering (like through empty juice can in a park) and its impact on the environment, which is to be promoted through an innovative idea, "Na Thappad Se, Na Gaali Se Ab Samjhaainge Taali Se". This initiative seeks to promote responsible social and civic conduct through engaging and relatable performances.
Welcoming the dignitaries K.K. Joshi, Troupe Leader, BLSKS also explained aims of the programe while further, the Nukad Natak will create a central character (Kachra Seth) depicting a wealthy individual who lacks social sense and responsible civic behaviour by throwing trash out of his car. The plays will depict a satirical representation of irresponsible civic behaviour and its impact on the environment. The singers, musician, actors and students of music and computer institute who performed in the musical play were Usha Raina, Neelam Gandotra, Raju Bajgal, K.K.Joshi, M C Kotwal, Kuldeep Raj , Bindia Okheda, Chahat Chadha, ,Naiya Digra, Ajit Sharma, presented the programe and students, teachers, youths & general public were present on the occasion. Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
