Suresh Sharma launches road project
6/17/2025 10:08:05 PM
Early Times Report
AKHNOOR, June 17: In a significant push toward strengthening rural infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir's hilly terrain, Senior BJP leader and District Development Council (DDC) member Pandit Suresh Sharma today inaugurated the blacktopping of the Keneri to Ghar-Mazoor road in Block Chowki Chaura. The ?1.40 crore project is being executed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-a flagship scheme aimed at enhancing rural connectivity across India.
The road, long marred by poor conditions, has posed persistent challenges for local residents, particularly during adverse weather. Its strategic location in a rugged, hilly region makes the project all the more vital for ensuring year-round access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and emergency support.
Addressing the gathering at the site, Suresh Sharma emphasized the government's commitment to equitable development. "Under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the central government is ensuring that the benefits of development reach even the remotest corners of the country. Roads like these are more than infrastructure-they are arteries of progress," he said.
Sharma also announced that Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana - Phase IV has received a green signal for the region, with multiple new roads sanctioned for construction in Block Chowki Choura. Among the most anticipated is the upcoming Juthal-Balsaro road, which will link two districts and significantly reduce travel time through the mountainous belt.
He further noted that the central government is paying special attention to Jammu and Kashmir, with focused efforts to connect every village and hamlet with all-weather roads, thereby transforming lives and livelihoods across the region.
The event saw the presence of several senior BJP functionaries and local representatives, including BJP Mandal President Ashok Kumar Sharma, Captain B.D. Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, former Sarpanchs Chunnilal and Madan Lal Baba Kali, Purushottam Lal, Satpal, Vijay Kumar, Captain Jagdish Raj, Pandit Premdas, Ashok Kumar, along with officials from the concerned departments and other dignitaries.
