The G20 meeting held in Kashmir in 2003 marked a historic moment not only for the region but also for India growing influence on the world stage. As part of india presidency of the G20, a key working group meeting on tourism was hosted in Srinagar, the summer capital of jammu and Kashmir. This decision carried both symbolic and strategic wait, intertwining global diplomacy with local aspirant and challenges. The G20, or group of twenty, forum for world largest economist to discuss global financial and economic issue comprising 19 countries and the European union, the G20 represents around 85 percent of global GDP, over 75 percent of international trade, and two/third of the world population India assume the G20 presidency from Indonesia in December 2022. It aim to use this opportunities to show case its cultural diversity, economic potential, and diplomatic stature. Under the theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ one earth, one family one future. India hosted over 200 meetings 50 cities. Hosting one of these in Kashmir was bold and calculative move. |
