Two vehicles seized with Khair Billets

Jammu, June 17: Acting on specific information, a team of the Forest Department, under the close supervision of the Range Officer (RO) Jammu and under overall supervision of Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu, successfully intercepted and seized a Maruti SX4 (Reg No. JK02AM - 5101) and truck (Reh No. PB06BH-2502 for illegally transporting Khair Stuff and tunu wood in Block Manawar.
The operation was executed during night hours on 15.06.2025 by Block Officer Manawar Vikram Charak with the assistance of Beat Guard Vipan Jamwal, Rajeshwar Singh, Tarun khajuria and staff of Nagrota-I Raiz Ahmed, Ashok kumar and Mohd Akbar. Upon inspection, the vehicles were found loaded with Khair billets and tunu wood , which were being transported without valid documentation, in violation of the Indian Forest Act (IFA).
As per legal provisions, confiscation proceedings have been promptly initiated against the offenders. The seized vehicles and illicit forest produce have been taken into official custody for further legal action.
The Forest Department remains committed to strict enforcement of forest protection laws and urges the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal timber extraction and transportation. Such proactive measures are crucial in safeguarding forest resources and preventing ecological degradation.
