AKHNOOR, June 26: In a strong push to promote sports and healthy lifestyles among the youth, senior BJP leader and District Development Council (DDC) member Pt. Suresh Sharma distributed cricket kits to youngsters from Chowki and Choura panchayats in Block Chowki Choura. This initiative was part of his earlier commitment to use his DDC fund for youth development through sports infrastructure.
Sharma's ongoing campaign aims to empower youth in every panchayat of Maira Mandrian and Chowki Choura blocks, ensuring that each village receives quality sports equipment. The focus, he said, is not just on recreation but on long-term physical, mental, and social development.
While addressing the gathering, Pt. Sharma said:"Sports are a powerful medium to shape the future of our youth. They promote discipline, teamwork, and resilience while keeping youngsters away from negative influences like drugs and crime." He encouraged youth to take active part in sports and stay united in rejecting social evils and Channel your energy in the right direction"
The youth present at the event expressed gratitude for the support and vision of Pt. Suresh Sharma, who is widely regarded for consistently championing community development at the grassroots level.
Moreover, Pt. Suresh Sharma also inaugurated the 'Shine Eye Care Clinic' in Chowki Choura. Congratulating the clinic's proprietor Mr. Kewal Kumar and his family, he called the initiative a "much-needed health service" for the area and praised their commitment to public welfare.
The event was graced by several prominent figures including BJP Mandal President Ashok Kumar Sharma, former sarpanches Ramesh Lal and Ravi Kumar, Vyapar Mandal President Baldev Singh, as well as local leaders Rakesh Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Sunil Sharma, Shankar Das, departmental officials, and respected members of the community.
