JAMMU, June 26: The Financial Commissioner, Revenue, Jammu and Kashmir, has imposed strict penalties on Haroon Rashid Bhat, the then Patwari Halqa Harri Ganiwan, Tehsil Kangan, District Ganderbal, after an enquiry found him guilty of misconduct in a bribery case. Bhat was caught red-handed by the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 in exchange for revenue extracts. Following his arrest on March 11, 2024, he was placed under suspension, and a departmental enquiry was ordered. After a detailed investigation and approval for prosecution, the inquiry report confirmed charges of corruption. As a result, three increments of the official have been withheld, impacting his promotions, and he has been barred from holding sensitive postings for the next five years. |
