| GDC Kunjwani observed International Day against drug abuse | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 26: Nasha Mukt Committee and NSS Unit of GDC Kunjwani observed International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by organizing a series of impactful activities. The event aimed at raising awareness among the students about the growing menace of substance abuse and promoting healthy and addiction free life. The event was organized under the leadership of Prof. Baljinder Kour, Principal of the College.
The eventful day commenced with the essay writing competition on the theme "Drug Abuse and Its Effects on Families and Society". Students from different streams enthusiastically participated, presenting their thoughts and perspectives on the theme while calling for a collective action to curb the menace.
Following the competition an Awareness Lecture was delivered by Master Harnam Singh, a retired Headmaster and a senior citizen of Mansarovar Colony. In his informative and thought-provoking lecture, he talked about the psychological, physical and social consequences of drug addiction. Students actively engaged in the meaningful discussion and also raised relevant questions about the preventions and rehabilitation of the drug users.
In a show of solidarity and public engagement, an Awareness Rally was also organized in collaboration with Narcotics Control Bureau -Jammu Zonal Unit .Students, faculty and members of the Narcotics Control Bureau actively participated in the rally carrying placards
and chanting slogans to encourage the community to stay away from drugs. The rally sent a strong massage about the youth's commitment to a drug free future.
